Before a procedural walkthrough ships, every step runs on at least two brands when the task is host-specific, or twice on the same stack on different days when it is not. Console errors are captured, UI label drift between regions is noted, and copy is revised the moment a vendor moves a button. Screenshots and paths are spot-checked quarterly. Security-sensitive actions (DNS, SSL, billing) trigger recovery-option checks plus links to the host's own documentation for authoritative wording.
Use PHP 8.1+, HTTPS, and at least 256M memory where possible. Enable SSL before collecting payments.
Plugins → Add New → search "WooCommerce" → Install → Activate. Launch the setup wizard when prompted.
Enter address, currency, and product types. You can change these later under WooCommerce → Settings.
Enable WooCommerce Payments or Stripe/PayPal extensions. Complete onboarding and test mode purchases before going live.
Add shipping zones and methods; enable automated tax if your stack supports it or consult your accountant for rules.
Use a Woo-ready theme (Storefront, Astra, Kadence). Regenerate shop/cart/checkout pages under Status → Tools if URLs 404.
Place a real or test order, confirm emails fire, and verify order status in wp-admin.
